Dietary fibre including cellulose, hemicelluloses, lignin, pectin, rubbers and waxes can be determined by digestion with thermostable enzymes in foods and animal feeds. AOAC International (Official Methods of Analysis) has proposed enzymatic method 985.29.

Velp has developed the GDE and CSF6 units in conformity with this method. The Velp GDE unit offers even stirring of the sample and good thermoregulation precision during the enzymatic digestion phase. The CSF6 unit allows the final filtration and washing phase envisaged by the enzymatic method to be rationalised with considerable reduction of the time required.
