FUTEK LSB210 S-Beam load cell for interventional device testing

The purpose of an interventional device test is to reduce risk to patients during medical procedures. Medical researchers conduct tests with these systems to learn more about a medical device’s performance features such as trackability (track force), referring to the force required to advance through a tortuous object.

Precise measurement modules are needed to record findings of force vs position. One example would be FUTEK’s LSB210 submersible S-beam load cell fixed to a testing system to measure the trackability of a catheter through a tortuous anatomy.

The load cell is fixed on the test system to quantify the force exerted to advance the catheter through a tortuous anatomy. The overload protection feature provides assurance to researchers in case of accidental overload.

These force measures can be streamed to a computer utilising the FUTEK USB Solutions. The company’s USB modules are configured by the ASCII stream along with the DLL, which allows users to integrate custom software if needed.

Once streamed to a computer, that data can be monitored by FUTEK’s SENSIT Test and Measurement software, providing the medical researcher with track force data and therefore reducing the risk to patients.
