The FID Station Plus hydrogen and air generator uses polymer membrane (PEM) technology for the production of pure hydrogen. The product’s horizontal format allows it to be positioned over the laboratory bench, optimising space, while its 17 cm height is said to ensure easy access to any GC injectors in the market.

The generator automatically loads de-ionised water from a smart internal system tank that gives the user 7 L of water autonomy. The practical system of internal de-ionising cartridge replacement simplifies maintenance.

The product provides H2 production at flows of up to 600 cc/min with a purity of 5 or 6, while its zero air generator provides 1.5 L of zero air with HC contents of around 0.5 ppm. It integrates a catalytic oven to remove CH4 and other hydrocarbons. The external compressed air goes through a condenser with an automatic drain system. A fine dust filter and a mechanical pressure regulator terminate to condition the air.

The generator avoids the need for the installation of gas pipelines from the cylinder storerooms to the labs, as well as the need to repeatedly change bottles. In case of wrong internal functioning or a leak in the H2 circuit, the production of H2 is stopped and an alarm is activated. The suppression of dead volumes (<100 mL), as well as on-demand generation, avoids the need to stock a large quantity of hydrogen and enable the use of the instrument in areas where hydrogen cylinders are restricted.

An optional hydrogen sensor is available for monitoring the oven LEL of the GC. The series also includes additional security features, like a shock sensor which protects against shocks generated by earthquakes.
