With the Orled RL-18 high-output ring light, the light from 18 high-output LEDS is refracted through an optical system to provide 60,000 lx at a working distance of 75 mm. The 62 mm clear diameter and 77.5 mm mounting diameter allow the light to be mounted on a wide variety of microscopes and other optical systems.

The body is sealed to an IP65 rating. Custom sealing features may be added for particularly hazardous environments. The 62 mm threads at the end of the body can be used to mount a camera lens filter to protect the microscope objective.

The light can be supplied with a polariser film and an analyser filter. This feature reduces glare from shiny surfaces and allows inspection of details and defects that would otherwise be concealed by reflected light.

Remove the RL18 from the microscope, install the optional dark field adapter and place it under a subject facing up. The light reflected through the adapter will light up the subject from underneath without entering the microscope objective. The viewer will see a subject with illuminated edges on a black background. This is a clever way of inspecting edge detail and the best way of viewing defects within transparent objects.
