Teledyne Imaging Evolve 10 high-sensitivity EMCCD camera
The Evolve 10 is a high-resolution, back-illuminated EMCCD camera from Teledyne Imaging providing high sensitivity for low-light applications such as single molecule imaging, TIRF microscopy and more.
With Teledyne technology throughout, the camera provides high performance with features including quantum efficiency >95%, 1 MP active array size, sensor area of 10.2 x 10.2 mm, 14.48 mm field of view and a fast-mode frame rate of 30 fps. Alongside back illumination for quantum efficiency, the device uses electron multiplication to achieve a read noise of 0.26 e- without sacrificing frame rate.
Pixel size choice is a balance of resolution and sensitivity — larger pixel areas collect more photons. The camera range includes 13 and 16 μm-pixel cameras to provide good sensitivity. Resolution was previously limited for EMCCDs due to a lack of smaller pixel size options; now, with sensor manufacture taking place in-house, Teledyne can offer a 10 μm pixel back-illuminated EMCCD, matching the required pixel size for 100x oil immersion microscope objectives.
