The FemtoFiber ultra series of compact laser systems, by TOPTICA, provide femtosecond pulses with high average power in the near-infrared range with good beam quality. Simple air cooling is sufficient for stable operation of the system, so no water cooling is required. The series is suitable for applications in nonlinear microscopy, such as effective two-photon excitation of fluorescent proteins and SHG-based contrast mechanisms.
The FemtoFiber ultra 920 provides a small laser head with a footprint of 23 x 15.5 cm2. The laser head is designed to ensure minimum heat dissipation to its environment and therefore provides high stability for beam pointing. For flexibility, the design allows the laser head to be mounted vertically or horizontally. The system comes with a 19″ standard rack control and supply unit, which is connected via detachable fibre and electronic lines of typ 2 m length.
The system is controlled manually by a simple push-button operation and provides all necessary safety features complying with the latest laser safety regulations. It can also be remote-controlled via Ethernet or USB. A simple graphics user interface (GUI) enables user-friendly access to all laser parameters.
With an emission wavelength of 920 nm, the product provides high power for especially green and yellow fluorescent protein markers (GFP, YFP) commonly used in neuroscience and other laser-related biophotonic disciplines. lt closes the wavelength gap in between the already existing FemtoFiber ultra systems at 780 and 1050 nm.
