Thursday, 31 January, 2013 | Supplied by: Merck

Wilmad-LabGlass is recognised as the inventor of the first NMR tube and standard setter for NMR tube MHz-frequency rating. The company’s precision shrinking and grinding process shapes the inner surface with maximised filling factor (10% more than the company’s Economy tube) and a tight ID and OD tolerance as small as 0.0065 mm. The company’s NMR Precision Tubes are manufactured from borosilicate glass that meets the requirement of Type 1 Class A glass from ASTM E438.

The tube has three-fold-less paramagnetic contamination compared to the Economy and can be operated safely at temperatures up to 230°C and within a temperature step of 120°C. It is rated as hydrolytic class 1, which states that the inner surface is resistant to strong acid and base at ambient temperature.
