The CellVoyager CV8000 high-content screening system by Yokogawa is a high-end, high-content analysis system featuring a cell incubator with an airtight design that facilitates the observation of cell behaviour over long periods of time. In addition, the product comes with CellPathfinder, a program that can analyse images of unlabelled cells and 3D images of samples. With these features, the system is designed to improve the efficiency of drug discovery research and biomedical research on subjects such as long-term live cell imaging, kinetic assays, organoid/spheroid analysis and label-free analysis.

Through the combination of a proprietary high-speed confocal scanner, water immersion lens, up to four high field-of-vision cameras, a microscopic stage with cell cultivation environment and an integrated robotic pipetter, Yokogawa has produced a high-throughput, high-resolution imaging and phenotypic screening evaluation system. The company’s specialised analysis software, CellPathfinder, uses deep learning and machine learning to recognise target objects, providing support for image analysis to display results using graphs.

Within the drug development market, demands on high-content analysis systems for drug efficacy evaluation are increasing in accordance with the needs for cell-based assay and phenotypic screening. In order to increase screening efficiency, devices with higher speeds (higher throughput) are required.
