AXT to distribute TTP Labtech life science products in A/NZ

Analytical and sample preparation equipment supplier ATX has become the exclusive Australian and New Zealand agent for UK-based TTP Labtech’s life science product range.

TTP Labtech is a developer and manufacturer of products for pharmaceutical and biotech research at both the industrial and academic levels. Its portfolio includes liquid handling systems suitable for volumes as small as 25 nL; automated modular sample management systems that can store up to 200,000 samples at temperatures as low as -80°C featuring automated sample retrieval facilities; and cell imaging systems with high-volume screening capabilities.

AXT Managing Director Richard Trett said, “We are extremely excited about the addition of TTP’s products to our life science line-up.” He said Australian researchers’ productivity and commercialisation efforts could be increased due to the products’ smaller sample volumes, faster analysis rates and automated sample handling and distribution.

Andrew Goulter, Manager of Global Distributors at TTP Labtech, said there are “distinct synergies” between the two businesses. He said TTP hopes its equipment will contribute to future successes in Australian biotech, “in particular, in the areas of protein crystallography, cell assays, cytotoxicity and biobanking”.

AXT will offer service and support for the TTP equipment, including existing instruments, and will also look after sales of consumables.

The company will be promoting the TTP Labtech product range at the upcoming ComBio 2013 conference, to be held in Perth from 29 September-3 October.
