Eppendorf Centrifuge 5427 R with hydrocarbon cooling
To protect the planet for future generations, it will be important to switch from hydrofluorocarbons to more environmentally friendly ‘green’ coolants — hydrocarbons. Natural coolants like R290 (propane) have a global warming potential (GWP) of almost zero, while conventional refrigerants such as R134a have a GWP of 1430 and thus have a disproportionately greater impact on global warming when released into the environment.
Propane cooling is just one of the features of the Eppendorf Centrifuge 5427 R with hydrocarbon cooling. With a compact footprint and a dual-row rotor FA-45-48-11 for up to 48 x 1.5/2 mL tubes, it is capable of speeds up to 25,001 x g, making it suitable for laboratories with a high sample throughput. With a large rotor selection, it is also useful for areas where many users share instruments. The nine fixed-angle and swing-bucket rotors cover a wide range of applications and all aerosol-tight rotors are equipped with the Eppendorf QuickLock lids for easy rotor lid opening and closing to enable safe centrifugation of hazardous samples.
The ACT label certification of the Centrifuge 5427 R makes it easy for users to choose a more sustainable product, since this label gives clear, third-party verified information about its environmental impact, eg, manufacturing, energy and water usage, as well as packaging and product end of life.
