Precision NanoSystems NanoAssemblr platform for mRNA lipid nanoparticles manufacture

Several new-age vaccines based on mRNA are currently being developed to tackle COVID-19. mRNA vaccines have great potential to be manufactured and deployed in a timely manner in response to rapid infectious disease outbreaks and one day even offer potential treatment for cancer.

mRNA has several important advantages over viral DNA delivery given it can lower risk of immune reactions and avoids the risk of permanent integration into the host genome. Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that encapsulate an mRNA offer a desirable method to deliver the payload. LNPs protect against nucleases and facilitate cellular uptake and release into the cytoplasm and can be quickly and easily prepared on demand using NanoAssemblr technology.

The NanoAssemblr platform from Precision NanoSystems (PNI) enables the rapid, reproducible and scalable manufacture of next-generation nanoparticle formulations such as lipid nanoparticles and liposomes to encapsulate a payload such as an mRNA. Using laminar flow conditions, NanoAssemblr enables the user to fine-tune particle size to create highly reproducible mRNA LNPs with high mRNA encapsulation efficacy and potency within seconds.
