Unchained Labs Stunner instrument for protein analysis

The Stunner from Unchained Labs enables users to measure protein size and concentration in the same instrument. In fact, its multifunctional nature enables the measurement of several properties, allowing users to optimise their formulations quickly.

The product is fast, carrying out analysis in under 1 min, and only requires 2 µL of sample with no need for dilution. For high-throughput applications, it accepts 96-well plates and will have concentrations measured in 12 min and sizing done in 1 h.

Using DLS (dynamic light scattering) to determine hydrodynamic protein size, Stunner lets users determine the effects of parameters such as storage, agitation and changes to process formulation. It also allows them to see the effects of properties such as aggregation, hydrodynamic size, polydispersity and uniformity.

The device has a wide dynamic range, catering for samples with concentrations from 0.02 to 200 mg/mL, meaning no need for sample to be diluted. In addition, users can also deal with mAbs up to 250 mg/mL.

By measuring each sample in a series using DLS, Stunner allows users to determine their formulations’ propensity for aggregation in real time (B22 and kD). Users can also check the stability of their protein formulations using standard methods based on wavelength or their own custom methodologies.
