Cayman Chemical Ethanol Colorimetric Assay Kit

Wednesday, 05 July, 2023 | Supplied by: Sapphire Bioscience

The Ethanol Colorimetric Assay Kit, from Cayman Chemical, provides a colorimetric-based method for measuring ethanol in alcoholic beverages, vinegars and synthetic media for yeast culture.

In the assay, an alcohol oxidase (AOX) oxidises ethanol, producing acetaldehyde and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The Ethanol Assay Probe is oxidised by H2O2 in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP), generating a product with absorbance that can be measured at 570 nm.

The assay has a range of 0–4 mM (0–0.02% v/v) and a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.01 mM.
