Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) is produced by inflammatory cells. It circulates primarily bound to low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and is to a lesser extent associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in human plasma.
LDL oxidation is an early key event in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Elevated Lp-PLA2 levels have been found in atherosclerotic plaques and rupture lesions.
The PLAQPRO Lp-PLA2 Assay, from Enzo Life Sciences, measures the enzyme activity of Lp-PLA2 in serum samples. The assay is designed to run on automated clinical chemistry analysers, and is a convenient tool for cardiovascular studies.
The product has a wide analytical measurement range from 0–400 nmol/min/mL and an analytical sensitivity of 0.236 nmol/min/mL. It offers high specificity and reproducibility, lot after lot.
The assay comes with ready-to-use calibration standards and QC controls. It is designed to run on automated clinical chemistry analysers.
