Gradientech CellDirector 2D chemotaxis assays

Wednesday, 20 November, 2013 | Supplied by: Sapphire Bioscience

CellDirector cell-based assays are microscale tools for live imaging and analysis of cell migration and behaviour in response to stable chemotactic concentration gradients. The CellDirector 2D assay can be used to study the chemotactic effect of any soluble substance on any type of adherent cell.

The product uses fluid flow technology to generate controlled concentration gradients of soluble substances such as growth factors, hormones, peptides or candidate drugs. The gradient is produced by vacuum pumping two different media solutions in a constant flow through the CellDirector apparatus.

Cell behaviour is captured by time-lapse microscopy and analysed with the freely available Gradientech tracking tool. Migration data from both gradient conditions, as well as controls, are collected during a single experiment.

The cell-based assays are also available for 3D cell culture.
