Lonza OsteoImage mineralisation assay

The OsteoImage mineralisation assay is a rapid, fluorescent in vitro assay for assessing bone cell mineralisation. The assay is based on specific binding of the fluorescent OsteoImage staining reagent to the hydroxyapatite portion of bone-like nodules deposited by cells.

Users can obtain qualitative visual fluorescent microscopy or quantitative fluorescent plate reader results.

Users can quantitate in vitro mineralisation by osteogenic stem cells, primary osteoblasts and osteoblast-like cell lines. It is sensitive enough to detect time-dependent increases in mineralisation in differentiating cells.

Users can avoid multiple steps (including extraction steps) of alternative histochemical methods and complete their assay in under 90 min.
