Elevated plasma levels of oxidised LDL are associated with higher cardiovascular risk and higher incidence of metabolic diseases, ie, metabolic syndrome, obesity and type 2 diabetes. Subclinical atherosclerosis, kidney and liver diseases are also associated with increased levels of oxidised LDL.
The Mercodia Oxidized LDL ELISA kit is intended to be used for in vitro quantification of oxidised low-density lipoproteins (oxidised LDL) in human serum or plasma. The ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA based on the proprietary mouse monoclonal antibody 4E6, which is directed against a conformational epitope in oxidised ApoB-100. The affinity of the antibody 4E6 used in the ELISA makes it possible to measure both MDA- and aldehyde-modified oxidised LDL, which is said to set this assay apart from others.
