LabTech Systems [ASX: LBT] has been granted a Chinese design patent for the company's MicroStreak applicator.

The patent, known in China as a Certificate of Registration, was granted by the Chinese Patent Office.

It is the first patent to be granted based in the technologies which together comprise the applicator, but other patents are pending.

LabTech recently received milestone payments of $1.74 million – the first milestone payments from the project - from bioMerieux, as recognition of LabTech's progress with the applicator.
