Since the acquisition of Automated Laboratory Technologies in 2005, Millennium Science has offered customised robotic solutions that assist scientists in fully automating selected research protocols. In a recently completed project, a high throughput viral production, target cell transduction, and automated screening work station was commissioned at the Diamantina Institute in Brisbane. The core of the work station is the Caliper ALH 3000 liquid handling platform, one of the most versatile and flexible liquid handlers currently on the market. The robotic hardware and associated instruments were contained within a custom designed and certified Class II Biohazard cabinet to meet the live virus system specification for this project. Where feasible Millennium Science works with local suppliers of custom components and holds large stocks of service parts in its Melbourne warehouse in order to provide the fastest possible response times for service and support. Recently Millennium expanded its automation capability by building a custom integration facility at its Melbourne headquarters to further improve its ability to deliver and support these projects.
