AusBiotech linked in to the industry network
Tuesday, 07 February, 2012
AusBiotech's two groups on social networking site LinkedIn have grown rapidly in the past year, this week reaching more than 1500 members (combined), cementing their place as the largest networks of their kind for Australian biotechnology and medical technology.
The two groups on the business-oriented networking website – ‘AusBiotech, Australia's Biotechnology Organisation’ and ‘AusMedtech Australian Medical Technology’ – have both grown substantially in the past year.
The AusBiotech group has almost doubled during 2011, swelling from 500 members in May to 926 participants today. The AusMedtech group has peaked this week at 638 members.
As the use of social networking sites become more and more popular, the groups become an important network of industry professionals. Across the groups, almost 20% are international members, while the AusBiotech group has 39% of its members in the Melbourne area, 15% work in research, and the AusMedtech group has 43% of its members in the Sydney area with 8% in business development.
Membership of the groups is open to all registered users of LinkedIn who are working in biotechnology or medical technology. Content and membership is moderated by AusBiotech and provides industry information, news and a substantial network.
To join the AusBiotech group, log on to your LinkedIn account and search the group name or visit the AusBiotech website and follow the link.
