Aussies you'll meet at BIO
Tuesday, 01 June, 2004
Australia is home to a thriving and dynamic biotechnology industry with a firm footing in the world-class research base found in the universities and research institutions 'Down Under'.
Within Australia's biotechnology sector are numerous companies developing innovative new devices, drugs and therapeutics for a variety of human diseases, agricultural and veterinary biotechnology companies, and a burgeoning field of companies and contract research organisations (CROs) providing regulatory advice, clinical trials expertise, development of animal models and contract development and manufacturing services for local and international companies.
Australian exhibitors at BIO2004 span the gamut, from emerging drug development companies like Alzhyme and Phylogica, to experienced players in the sector like Biota, GroPep and Proteome Systems.
Australia's major research institutions -- housing the inventors of many innovative Australian biotechnology products -- are also making a strong showing at the conference, with new opportunities aplenty.
A variety of contract research organisations (CROs) with plenty of experience in running clinical trials in Australia and elsewhere will also be on hand to show the world why Australia has a well-deserved role to play in clinical trials.
And Australia's state and federal governments are showing their support for the industry and recognition of its importance to the future economy of the nation, by turning out for the conference.
