Australian biotech market today 28.04.09

The healthcare indices are up a very healthy 2.6 per cent on the market at 3.00pm on a day when other shares lost yesterday’s gains.

Biota (ASX:BTA) is down a touch following its massive rise yesterday, when shares shot up 80 per cent. It has settled at a very respectable $1.50 today.

Investors obviously like the look of any stocks with a whiff of swine flu, as vaccine developer CSL (ASX:CLS) is up $1.15 to $33.

In terms of the other majors, Cochlear (ASX:COH) is up $1 while ResMed (ASX:RMD) is up 3c.

Alchemia (ASX:ACL) is almost 19 per cent, while Mesoblast (ASX:MSB) is down 4c to 73c.
