Australian Life Scientist magazine, and its sister website www.lifescientist.com.au, have been acquired by Westwick-Farrow Media (WFM), and will join its stable of B2B magazines and websites, including What’s New in Lab & Life Sciences (est 1990), www.labonline.com.au and What’s New in Food Technology & Manufacturing.

In announcing the purchase from IDG Communications, WFM Publisher Geoff Hird was excited about the opportunity to manage and further develop the two leading B2B brands in the science and laboratory sector.

“We have always had a healthy respect for ALS. It’s a strong brand. We are confident that both titles are complementary and that this acquisition will allow us to more fully service the information needs of the broader laboratory, life science and biotech sectors across Australia and New Zealand.”

ALS will continue to focus on delivering in-depth features covering the latest developments in the life science and biotechnology sectors. It will publish bi-monthly in alternate months to What’s New, which specialises in delivering information about the latest products and services for the Australian research community.

Hird said the WFM team had carefully reviewed both titles to ensure both readers and advertisers will gain maximum benefit from the handover. ALS Editor, Tim Dean, will move across to WFM as part of the agreement.

WFM will also publish the AusBiotech newsletters and the web portal inside www.lifescientist.com.au.
