Biotech stocks down at noon

At 12:30pm the pharmaceuticals index was down 1.3%, bucking the positive overall trend on the ASX which was up almost 2% after big rises on Wall Street overnight.

Index heavyweight CSL (ASX:CSL) accounted for the bulk of the slippage with a drop of 77c to $34.68.

Prana Biotechnology (ASX:PBT) moved up 1.5c, or over 9%, to 17.5c.

Novogen (ASX:NRT) also showed a 6% increase up 2.5c to 45c from yesterday’s lows.

Sigma Pharmaceuticals (ASX:SIP) was down 1% to 95c in light volume.
