Chemeq plant finally operational
Monday, 02 August, 2004
Production facilities at Chemeq (ASX:CMQ) have finally come to life, with the company announcing that it has manufactured enough of the active pharmaceutical ingredient of its novel antimicrobial to verify the production process.
The announcement comes more than six months after the commencement of manufacturing was expected -- company secretary Adam Deane said in January that Chemeq planned to begin manufacturing its novel antimicrobial in its new plant in Rockingham, south of Perth, in February this year.
“There is no doubt that this technology has taken some time to get right,” said company spokesperson Peter Cassuben today. Cassuben said that the next stage in the process was to take the active pharmaceutical ingredient and suspend it in the liquid form to produce the finished Chemeq drug. He was not able to give a time for higher-volume production, or specifiy what quantity of the antimicrobial had so far been produced.
