Sydney-based devices company USCOM (ASX:UCM) has received its first US orders for its heart monitoring equipment. The USCOM Ultrasonic Cardiac Output Monitor, which the company says uses ultrasound technology to cost-effectively and non-invasively measure blood flow across the cardiac valves, was purchased by the Regional Healthcare System for Florida.

USCOM has also advanced the monitor's technology and the latest version of USCOM operating system software includes real-time calculation of beat-to-beat Systemic Vascular Resistance (SVR), a cardiovascular measure relating to cardiac output and blood pressure.

USCOM secured FDA approval to market the device in US in February and has had first sales in 11 other countries, including Australia.
