Software and electronics engineering consultancy company Hydrix has won the “enabling technology company of the year” award from the Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
Hydrix, which operates in the biomedical devices as well as other sectors, received the award last week at a gala event.
The award is handed out to companies that make innovative use of enabling and emerging technologies within their manufacturing.
Hydrix was formed in Melbourne in 2002, and has now undertaken around 150 projects for various clients. The company is a federal government registered research service provider.
Hydrix has previously undertaken contract work for companies including Sunshine Heart, Universal Biosensors, Analytica and Tipa Tinnitus.
Recent products developed for clients include an in-chest mounted, heart-beat assist device, an iPad-based diagnostic system, a range of IVD point of care blood diagnostic tools and an ultra portable bicamera endoscopic device.
The Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame was established in 2001 by the state government. The Enabling Technology Company category was added last year.
Last year's winner was MiniFAB Australia, a company which designs and manufactures polymer micro-engineered systems for use in the biotech, health and other sectors.
