Illumina Genome Network launches for human genome sequencing community
Friday, 30 July, 2010
Next-generation genome sequencing technology company, Illumina, today launched the Illumina Genome Network, which is a global partnership to link researchers working in human genome sequencing projects.
The Network will include academic and commercial institutions from around the world, such as GMI/Macrogen Inc. and the National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR), that use Illumina geneome sequencing technology for large-scale sequencing projects.
These institutions must have completed Illumina's Certified Service Provider (CSPro) certification before joining the Network.
The Network will then connect researchers interested in performing large-scale whole human genome sequencing projects with Network members who can then perform the sequencing tasks.
"With the rapidly increasing output of the Illumina HiSeq 2000, and the commensurate reduction in the price of sequencing genomes, more and more researchers are looking to advance their projects by leveraging this transformational technology," said Christian Henry, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Life Sciences, in a statement.
