UBI wins Vic government manufacturing award
Universal Biosensors (ASX:UBI) has won the inaugural Technology in Manufacturing prize from the Victorian Government’s latest Victorian Manufacturing Hall of Fame Awards.
Universal Biosensors was one of 13 local companies to receive a plaudit during last week’s ceremony at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.
The newly added Technology Manufacturing Award recognises companies that are making effective use of emerging new technologies in their manufacturing processes.
“We are extremely proud to receive this award and thank the Victorian Government for their support and encouragement over many years,” Universal Biosensors CEO Paul Wright said. “Our world-class manufacturing facility in Rowville has solidly anchored our business in Victoria.”
He said the Rowville plant employs around 100 people and has the capacity to produce over 750 million blood glucose test strips per annum.
Universal Biosensors produces the strips for its two partners - Siemens Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson subsidiary LifeScan - for use in point-of-care diagnostics products.
Universal Biosensors shares were trading unchanged at $0.65 as of around 12.30 pm on Tuesday.
