$10 million for grass roots science
Wednesday, 07 November, 2001
The Grains Research and Development Corporation, which has invested over $16 million into soil and water management over the last two years, will step up its soil science focus through the new Soil Biology Initiative.
Headed by Greg Bender, a molecular biology, microbiology, botany and biochemistry research scientist, the initiative will invest $10 million, over the next five years, into soil science.
"We are actually calling for research proposals for suitable projects now," announced Dr Bender, who hopes research bodies will embrace the opportunity to link with the GRDC and collaboratively advance Australian soil science.
