Annual Science Meets Parliament 2001
Monday, 06 August, 2001
The Federation of Australian Science and Technology Societies (FASTS) has arranged this year for scientists to meet with parliamentarians on 21 and 22 August in Canberra. The same format as last year applies with pairs of scientists visiting MPs and senators at Parliament House.
"Backing Australia's Ability", the $2.9 billion Government package has already been announced for science and research, and the opposition also has plans for science and research with its "Knowledge Nation" policies. Both will be discussed at the two-day conference to ensure parliamentarians, and prospective parliamentarians, fully understand the needs of the science and research community.
