CSIRO is seeking anti-pinkeye collaboration
Wednesday, 03 October, 2001
CSIRO Livestock Industries and the University of Melbourne have patented a vaccine formulation against the cattle disease pinkeye.
Pinkeye is a highly contagious eye infection of cattle, caused by the bacterium moraxella bovis. Symptoms range from mild conjunctivitis to severe ulceration and blindness. Dr Wojtek Michalski, CSIRO Livestock Industries, says that the formulation has performed very well in laboratory trials.
CSIRO is seeking collaboration with commercial parties to further develop the vaccine. Those interested should contact Dr Jack Malecki, Commercial Manager, on 03 5227 5028.
