Promoting Australian products, processes and technologies internationally
Saturday, 26 February, 2005
As an initiative of the Science Industry Action Agenda, the SIA, with support from DEST and the Victorian government, will assist 20 companies and research entities exhibit products, technologies and processes at PittCon 2005 in February 2005. The objective of showcasing Australian SETI (Science Engineering Technology Innovation) to an international audience is to:
- Promote and enhance Australia internationally as a source of leading-edge SETI, products and services;
- Facilitate international SETI collaboration between Australia and priority countries by demonstrating Australia's skills and capabilities;
- Facilitate Australian companies' access to leading-edge overseas SETI and services; and
- Facilitate the networking of Australian scientists and business people with potential international partners and clients.
The whole-of-country approach of a national Australian stand at PittCon 2005 will:
- Help attract attention to relatively unknown, small Australian companies and research groups in major showcasing fairs which otherwise attract large, well-known companies;
- Facilitate the attendance of Australian SMEs which would otherwise be unlikely to attend international showcasing events, given the relatively high cost of such fairs; and
- Promote a unified Australian SETI capacity as well as individual capacities.
