Queensland Premier Peter Beattie has called on New Zealand researchers to link with some of his state's leading research institutions to unlock the scientific mysteries of the 21st century.
"There are some golden opportunities for collaboration between researchers in New Zealand and Queensland," Mr Beattie said in Wellington recently.
"New Zealand has developed a world-class bioscience industry in human and animal health, agriculture, horticulture and a wide range of natural products.
"So too has Queensland which has become Australia's capital for biotechology and medical research.
Mr Beattie urged New Zealand pioneers in nanotechnology research to link with the $A50 million Australian Institute of Bio-engineering and Nanotechnology that is now being established on the University of Queensland campus in Brisbane.
