Scientists return home
Wednesday, 26 September, 2001
Australian scientists abroad are being encouraged to return to Australia to work by John Howard, announcing the first recipients of federation fellowships.
Six scientists lured back are professors, working at top institutions overseas. They came back because 15 research fellow positions have been made available, each with a five-year salary of $1.1 million. The Australian Government, via the Australian Research Council, has bankrolled the fellowships. The fellowships have been designed to attract Australia's top scientists back to Australia.
