Semiconductor science success

The CSIRO ICT Centre has completed the successful spin-off of its unique compound semiconductor technologies to EpiTactix.

EpiTactix has secured $5.2 million in start-up funding and support from a syndicate of investors, including the CSIRO and an AusIndustry R&D START Grant.

Dr Alex Zelinsky, Director of the CSIRO ICT Centre said, "The spin-off of our semiconductor technology is a fantastic example of CSIRO's commitment to giving its intellectual property the best chance of achieving commercial success and impact."

Former CSIRO scientist and founder of the company Mr Shaun Cunningham will become the company's Chief Technology Officer.

He said, "This funding will be used to develop new compound semiconductor production processes and wireless products for the growing high frequency segment of the broadband wireless market."

EpiTactix will continue to maintain close links with CSIRO. It will co-locate with the CSIRO ICT Centre at Marsfield in Sydney's north where it will use the CSIRO's clean room facility and draw on the skills of several expert CSIRO scientists.

EpiTactix Pty Limited plans to develop products for defence and automotive radar, high bandwidth point-to-point systems and a number of high bandwidth consumer applications.
