X-rays scale atomic peaks

The University of Queensland's Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis and the Brisbane Surface Analysis Facility have joined forces to create and manage a $530,000 X-ray Diffraction Facility for the use of university and external researchers.

X-ray diffraction is a technique for studying at the molecular level the properties of materials such as nanocomposites, and the surface properties of materials.

The facility features two instruments. One is intended for high-throughput measurements of powdered samples, while the other is highly flexible for more sophisticated applications such as surface reflectometry.
