Gravitational Wave Advanced Detector Workshop 2024
12 May, 2024 - 18 May, 2024
GWADW 2024 will be a workshop orientated experience focusing on discussions about the biggest opportunities and challenges for GW detectors over the next decade, and how the current experience can guide the design of next-generation observatories and their detectors.
Broad themes encompassing the pressing challenges that will be covered during the workshops are:
- Laboratory-scale experiments supporting future detectors and how to train next-generation instrumentation specialists
- Post-O5 upgrades and performance risk mitigation
- Coatings for future detectors
- Low-frequency performance of detectors in next-generation observatories and what we can learn from post-O5 3- and 4-km interferometers
- Large-scale infrastructure and vacuum systems for next-generation observatories
- Space-based detectors looking towards the 2040s and the 2050s
- Machine learning for advanced instrumentation
- Quantum metrology and interferometer topologies
- Alternative techniques and configurations to enhance the detection of gravitational waves
