AB SCIEX TOF/TOF 5800 system

The AB SCIEX TOF/TOF 5800 mass spectrometry system can be used for the identification and relative quantitation of proteins. Its speed and sensitivity make it suitable for biomarker discovery, MALDI mass spectrometry imaging and protein identification.

Benefits include: more than 10x faster data acquisition with 1 KHz laser and DynamicExit algorithm; OPtiBeam on-axis laser irradiation increases sensitivity in both MS and MS/MS modes by 10x over systems without an on-axis laser; maximum up time and throughput by continuously heating the source mirror and user programmable source mirror cleaning; improved resolution with reflectron mirror design and 1000 MHz digitiser; high-resolution precursor ion selection with novel timed-ion selector.

The 1 kHz laser provides fast ionisation and the DynamicExit algorithm provides high confidence IDs with the fewest number of laser shots. The LC MALDI TOF/TOF system analysis speed is said to equal that of ESI/MS/MS.
