Maldi-mass spectrometry matrices

20 February, 2003 | Merck

Maldi (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation), a laser-based soft ionisation method, is one of the most successful ionisation methods for mass spectrometric analysis and investigation of large molecules. In addition, analysis of post source decay (decay of proteins following the ionisation) in many cases allows rapid sequencing of proteins. Thus Maldi has gained a crucial importance for protein analysis.

ICP-MS

20 February, 2003 | Varian Australia Pty Ltd

Varian's ICP-MS offers ease of use and high sensitivity with its 90° ion optics. The ion mirror reflects analyte ions through 90°, while neutrals and photons pass through. This produces a very high signal to background ratio for low-level detection limits and features tunable gigahertz sensitivity (one thousand million counts per second for every ppm).

Visible light spectrophotometers

20 February, 2003 | VWR International Pty Ltd

The range of Bibby Anadeo visible spectrophotometers is compact and easy to use. It has a large clear LCD, an intuitive navigation system, and is user-friendly. Users can become familiar with the functions very rapidly, including the programmable memory facility. The precision optics system gives reliable results.

Raman microspectroscopy

20 February, 2003 | Warsash Scientific Pty Ltd

Warsash Scientific has released the InVia Reflex fully automated Raman microscope from Renishaw. They add simplicity of operation to the performance and flexibility to Renishaw's high optical efficiency Raman microspectrometer design, with a directly coupled Leica DMLM microscope.

Spectroscopic research spectrometer

20 February, 2003 | Ai Scientific Pty Ltd

The Digilab FTS 7000 is a high performance spectrometer designed to meet the requirements of the spectroscopic researcher. Based on a 2" clear aperture, air-bearing, 60° Michelson interferometer and a high flux water-cooled source, the FTS 7000 can be configured to cover the spectral range from 50,000 to 10 cm-1. It also has a wide range of scan speeds, capable of collecting over 100 spectra per second in rapid scan mode, down to slow step scan speeds for frequency domain or time domain step scan spectroscopy.

Food analyser

20 February, 2003 | Analytical Technologies Australia

The Unity FoodStar 1100 is a scanning NIR analyser designed to meet a wide variety of at-line analysis needs. The FoodStar 1100 uses the entire shortwave-NIR scanning range (730-1100 nm) to provide accurate readings of fat, moisture, protein, and many other constituents.

Advanced Charting Module

22 January, 2003 | LabWare Australia Pty Ltd

LabWare, an international software products company focused exclusively on configurable Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), has announced the availability of an advanced charting module for its LabWare LIMS software through a joint development effort with Northwest Analytical (NWA).

Evaporative light scattering detector

18 January, 2003 | Grace Discovery Sciences

Alltech ELSD 800 is an evaporative light scattering detector that can add universal HPLC detection to any LC system to replace or complement existing detectors. The ELSD's universal response gives a closer representation of sample mass than UV detectors, making quantification more accurate when standards are not available. It can be used in parallel with MS to obtain maximum structural and concentration information for each sample. Unlike RI detectors, the ELSD offers high sensitivity, equilibrates quickly and is gradient compatible.

Rotary evaporators

17 January, 2003 | VWR International Pty Ltd

The Stuart equipment portfolio from Bibby Sterilin includes the RE300 rotary evaporators. This range of evaporators, coupled with a water bath, combines ease of use, reliability and performance with value for money. They are available with a wide range of accessories and come in three different models: RE300 with the traditional diagonal coil condenser, RE301 with a space saving vertical coil condenser and RE302 with a highly efficient cold finger condenser, designed for use with ice/water or dry/ice.

Digital scales

17 January, 2003 | A&D Australasia Pty Ltd

The SK-WP series dust and waterproof digital scales are encased in a stainless steel enclosure. The unit is suitable for washdown and can be used in the food industry.

Ambient air assay

17 January, 2003 | Envirorent Pty Ltd

Thermo Environmental Instruments has a product brochure for the Miran SapphIRe Portable Infrared Ambient Air Analyser, including specifications and application descriptions. The brochure highlights the uses of the analyser including emergency response analysis, industrial hygiene surveys, indoor air quality studies, and leak detection.

Hydrogen gas leak detector

17 January, 2003 | Phenomenex Australia

The GX-Hawk-100 is a portable hydrogen gas leak detector specifically designed for gas chromatographers. Based on solid state sensor technology, the unit will quickly and easily aid in pinpointing the source of leaks at capillary column connections, gas lines and cylinders. Just point andread.

Polymer quality control

17 January, 2003 | Rheology Solutions Pty Ltd

The On-Line Laboratory Alfa from Optical Control Systems (OCS) incorporates a film-test-system which allows the measurements and recording of in-homogeneities and black specks as well as other physical, chemical and rheological parameters important in the production polymers.

Mercury analyser

17 January, 2003 | John Morris Scientific Pty Ltd

The Milestone DMA-80 Direct Mercury Analyser enables direct determination of mercury content of solid and liquid samples. The need for sample digestion and chemical pre-treatment is eliminated.
